Aircraft Installation Utility 4.0
- Now Aiiu works with FS2000 also... :)
- It supports several aircraft version in the same archive....
- ... and mixed archives (aircrafts + panels + scenery and so on...)
- ....and new format of bgl files (the compressed one...)
- Added a check routine for aircrafts (this can also solve some problems as wrong alias, missing files...)
- If aircraft's archive contain other zip files (e.g. when aircraft contain a panel, often in archive there is a file called gauges.zip) Aiu also expand those files and install them.
- Aiu detect automatically if the archive contain aircraft, panels or scenery.
- If present, Aiu also install the Panel (with its gauges).
- There is a warning message if you try to install aircraft not converted.
- When you are installing a scenery, Aiu modify your world.vis for you. (I suggest you to create a backup copy of this file…) In this way when you run Fs98/2000, the scenery is already installed and configured.
- There isn't annoying message when your trial period is over (only some Message boxes) ;-))
- Aiu can update its database automatically.
0.10 I have written this program when I noticed how can be boring the installation of aircraft when it isn't already divided in Directory. I've written AIU in few hours and, for this reason, I don't claim certainly that it's perfect but, however, I think that it's very useful. It doesn't do other that copy the files that compose an airplane in the varied directory but it do automatically.
0.11 quite better than 0.1.. Some new routine to increase the efficiency
0.12 Now limited support for long names: You can install from a Directory with a long name...
0.20 Corrected several bugs, and added support for several version of an aircraft in the same directory (now simply double click on your preferred and Aiu 'll install it) Added a simply installation utility that create and install the files.
1.0 Now Aiu works totally under Win95... I rewrite all the code so there isn't (for now...) a support for several version of an aircraft in the same directory (I didn't try it but probably Aiu' ll install all the versions in the same directory...).
1.1 Now there is the support for aircraft zipped (only with pkzip).. When you use this feature Aiu share the class *.zip with your zip manager. I've try with WinZip 6.3 (shareware edition) and all works properly (if you use another zip manager and something doesn't work, please send me an email...). I also solve the problem of aircraft already divided in directories. Now is possible to install all Fs98’s aircraft with a click.
2.0 Added support for panel and scenery. Now it's possible to use pkzip ver 2.50 (this solve “some” problems with long name, unsupported by pkzip 2.0 and previous..)
2.1 Fixed the scenery installation bug. Added layer selection.
3.0 Uninstalling feature added! You can delete your aircraft with Aiu without any efforts (I hope...). Aiu build a Database containing all gauges and from which aircraft are used, so when you uninstall an aircraft with Aiu only unnecessary gauges are deleted. Aiu can update and modify its database automatically. However you can rebuild the database running the configuration tool for Aiu.
3.1 Now is possible to unzip the archives without an external program. Simply choose "internal unzip" in the setup dialog during the installation. Now the installation of the scenarios is compatible with the creation of database of FsNav 2.x. It's possible make a backup copy of the aircrafts.4.0 Updated the installation Engine (I've changed about the 75% of code...) Compatible with Fs2000 and its new options. Added a check routine for aircrafts.
To install Aiu simply run setup.exe.
I suggest you to create a backup copy of your world.vis or scenery.cfg file if you want use Aiu to install scenery.
However, every time Aiu update the scenery.cfg file, it create a backup copy called scenery.old.
Pay attention:
Aiu v4.0 isn't compatible with older version of Aiu so
you must reinstall it.
Configuration:
When the setup utility has copied all files, it run Aiu to configure it. When
appear the dialog box select "Begin".
Will appear the Configuration Dialog Window.
In the left of Window there is a List Box (blank for now) in which you must
specify all the gauges that you doesn't want delete. For example: If you use
the Trimble 2000 GPS you must write "ta2000.gau" and "TA2000core.gau" in the
edit box and then push the "Add gauge" button.
With the "Delete Gauge" button you can delete the gauge selected from
the list.
The "Rebuild database" button create a new database used by Aiu to determinate
which gauges can be deleted.
In the right top corner you can choose your preferred language (Only Italian
and English for now... If someone want to translate Aiu in some other language...)
The Edit box below the language selection is used to specify your scenery folder.
If you want use a different folder (the default one is "Your Fs98/2000
Path\scenery") write it here.
To change some options later simply choose "preferences" on the menu that appear when you click on the smile in the top left corner of the main window (the first dialog that appear when you run Aiu...) of Aiu.
Open the Control Panel and in ADD \ REMOVE programs select “Aircraft installation utility ” then follow the On Screen instruction.
....
Uninstallation feature also available for scenarios.
A small manager (to install a lot of aircraft at the same moment)
F.A.Q.
Q: I run Aiu but I don't find the browse button to select the aircraft to
install. Where is?
Probably you don't understand how Aiu works.. The aircraft must be selected
from Explorer: Suppose that we have a folder with a lot of archive with aircrafts
inside. We want to install, for example, a Boing 747 (its archive is B747.zip),
select it with mouse and click on third button. In this way should be appear
the context menu, in which there where several entries (such as Extract,
Open, properties and so on..) select “Install as aircraft”, this will run Aiu.
Then you can select “begin” and, in this way, you install your aircraft. In
the same way you can install aircraft already unzipped.
Q: I did try to install an aircraft zipped in an arj archive but Aiu didn't
install it. Why?
Sorry Arj isn't supported. (If you want this feature write me an email… if there
were a lot of people interested I'll add this feature)
Q: When Aiu try to install a zipped aircraft it doesn't work: It open pkunzip(
appear a minimized window called pkunzip) but then it seems blocked.
Read Installation section… You must select, in pkunzip properties, close on
exit!
Q: I've a panel in a zip file. I open my context menu but doesn't appear
“Open as panel” Why?
For panels doesn't appear a different voice… Simply select “Open with Aiu” and
your panel will installed.
Q: I often receive a "Registry data corrupted" error.
This message appear for two reason:
1)Aiu cannot open the "fltsim98.exe" file: this can happen, for example when
you try to install a new aircraft and Fs98 is running on background.
2) You move Fs98 folder (For example you reinstall Flight Simulator.)
The first error cannot be recovered (Simply exit from fs98...), to fix the second
one, simply re-install Aiu.
