Notes for the Ethernet NetPort II print server upgrade

Overview:
---------

This upgrade contains solutions for the following reported problems:

 - When the Netport is configured for remote print mode and both
   parallel ports are in use, printing is very slow.

 - In remote print mode, print jobs that contain graphics files may
   have extra lines and/or garbage printing in the graphic images.

 - When the Netport attempts to log into a file server, it issues a
   SAP packet to communicate.  In the past, SAP packets were 
   transmitted every 40 seconds.  In this upgrade the timing has been
   increased to 50 seconds to reduce traffic on the network.

Updating the Flash Memory to version 4.34: 
------------------------------------------

 Warning:  To ensure a successful update please note the following:
        o Ensure NPAdmin is running from DOS, and not a Windows shell.
        o Don't update across a wide area link.
        o Update when network traffic levels are normal to low.

 Using Netport Manager to upgrade:
        a.      Copy the NP434.UPD and ETHERNET.NDL file into the 
                directory Netport Manager is being run from.
        b.      Start Netport Manager, select the Netport to be
                updated
        c.      Choose "Utilities" from the main menu.
        d.      Choose "Update".
        e.      Select NP434.UPD from the list of available upgrade
                file.  Click on OK.

 Using NPAdmin to upgrade:
        a.      Copy the NP434.UPD and ETHERNET.NDL file into the 
                directory NPAdmin is being run from.
        b.      Choose "Update" from the main menu.
        c.      Choose "Update" again.
        d.      Select the NetPort II print server from the list.  
        e.      Press <insert> and select the new file "NP434.UPD".
        f.      Press <enter> twice.

 The NetPort II print server's Flash Memory will be updated with the new 
 code.

 The DOS command NP2UPDAT.EXE is included with this archive in the 
 event that a Netport II may need to be updated via the serial port.

Setting the DIP Switches on the Netport II print server

 Once updated, the following DIP switch settings will select the 
 different frame types.
