the original books are copyrighten by their original authors.

Ŀ
 Summary

The BookRead format and method are used in several doors, so from
herein, all references to any given book will simply be stated as BOOK
whereby you will need to replace the word BOOK with the appropriate
name.

BookRead is a pproject we (the authors) started to put books on-line.
Any one can put a text file up. What makes BookRead so unique is that
it remembers where the user was when thay log back on (book marks) and
the user can go forward OR backward in the book.

Ŀ
 Installation

This is a very EASY door to install. it works on any BBS that supports
DORINFOx.DEF.

Project BookRead also can be used locally, without the need of a BBS.
Choose one of the below for the appropriate installation.

Ŀ
 BookRead Locally

Each of the books can be read be the BookView program. BookView is
incredibly easy to use and will run under Window or OS/2 in a DOS
window. BookView is Windows aware.

Make a directory called BOOKREAD and copy the files from this archive to
it.

From here, just type:

    BOOKVIEW BOOK

ie BOOKVIEW TOUCHED

There is no extention on the book name. The book will load and be
displayed on your screen. When you exit, it will automatically save a
bookmark for the next time you read the book.

Thats it...

Ŀ
 Bulletin Board Installation

BookRead uses a fossil driver. X00 or BNU will work. This must be
installed first. Refer to your fossil driver's manual for more
information.

Make a directory called BOOKREAD and copy the files from this archive to
it.

The following batch file illustrates how to setup BookRead:

@echo off
rem the below is the directory where BOOKREAD and the book files are located.
c:
cd \bookread
rem
rem the parameter is the location and name of the DORINFOx.def file
rem
rem do NOT put an extention on the BOOK parameter
rem
bookread c:\nstar\node-1\dorinfo1.def BOOK
exit
rem use whatever command you need to restart or exit to your BBS

Follow whatever setup your BBS requires.

Thats it, BOOKREAD is ready for the users. Note that BOOKREAD AND
BOOKVIEW can share the same directory.

Ŀ
 Multi-Node Operations

No special steps need be taken under Windows, or any Mulri-tasker
that supports DPMI. If your multi-tasker does not support DPMI, then
you will need to add the following to your BBS startup batch file of
*each* node:

    CWSDPMI -p -s<node directory>DPMI.SWP

the -p tells CSWDPMI to load permamently in memory.

the -s tells CWSDPMI to change the name and location of the swap file.
